Many people choose to create soft mixes using distilled water, honey and other ingredients that are thought to soothe and repair the esophagus. Fruits such as melon and papaya are excellent soft, alkaline foods during this time. As a drink, it is often blended with distilled water so it is easily digested. A mixture of romaine lettuce, honey and distilled water is a good blend as it is soothing and extremely easy on the stomach. Romaine lettuce in particular is highly alkaline and is the type of food needed to balance the levels of acidity in the body.
